The main objective of the degree in Computer Engineering is to offer a solid and comprehensive training in Computer Engineering that allows graduates to respond to the needs and problems observer in the fields of Computer Science. In addition to a solid background in Computer Engineering, the future graduate must also possess multidisciplinary skills that allow him to develop his teamwork, always bearing in mind the social, economic and legal implications resulting from the use of computer science and technology.

The courses's professors are integrated in Research Centers of the Lusofona group (COPELABS) and in other external groups. In the course there are two predominant research areas, namely: - Data Science and Machine Learning - Security, IoT, Sensor Networks and Signal Processing These two groups complement each other and allow synergies in the development of work in Data science and IoT.

Graduates in Computer Engineering at ISMAT obtain skills in programming, systems development, computer administration and computer networks. The course has a strong component in information systems, databases an Web programming. We follow good analysis, design, planning and project development practices. This course is geared towards practice, being developed during the course, real projects for real needs. The professional experience of the course faculty, combined with their academic experience, allows them to be aligned with the real needs of the market.

The curriculum design is based on a student-centred model.. To complement the traditional face to face dissemination of knowledge, we have a productive use of ICT, namely providing online access to materials that students can use autonomously. The coordination of the study cycles meets regularly with students’ delegates to develop innovative ways to involve students in the teaching-learning process (e.g., engaging in the research developed by the faculty).

The department has an intense activity both in basic and applied research that translates into different outcomes: projects with national and international funding, collaborations with international universities, faculty positioned in various editorial boards of journals with high impact factor, several manuscripts published in indexed journals, mostly Q1 and Q2, and a set of Master’s dissertations. Most of the research developed is in collaboration with Hei Lab, the department’s research centre, and some stems from the intense collaborations the faculty has with other centres of excellence.

to provide general training in the field of psychological sciences, to promote a solid scientific background (theoretical, technical and methodological) basis in key areas of psychology and to develop research skills in the field of psychology. The program also provides students with a general training in various areas of specialization of psychology for the pursuing of a 2nd cycle of studies in Psychology. Over the frequency of the 1st Cycle, students should acquire the specific skills of the area of psychology as well as soft skills shared by different areas of knowledge.
