Ziel der Forschung ist es, zum einen Nanomaterialien mit neuen Eigenschaften und Funktionen für die Technik bereitzustellen, zum anderen umweltschonende Mikromethoden für die Untersuchung der Wirkung auf Zellen zu beobachten.

Der englischsprachige Masterstudiengang befähigt Studierende zur erfolgreichen Arbeit an Entwicklungs- und Forschungsprojekten durch umfassende Fähigkeiten in der Herstellung und Analyse von mikro- und nanotechnologischen Strukturen. Durch Praxisprojekte werden neben fachlichen Grundlagen auch Soft Skills trainiert.

Das Diplom Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik zeichnet sich durch größere Wahlfreiheiten und ein vertieftes Grundlagenstudium aus. In den ersten fünf Semestern erhalten Studierende eine erweitere ingenieurwissenschaftliche Grundausbildung, die sie dann in einem selbstgewählten Haupt- und Nebenfach vertiefen. Dies erlaubt eine individuelle Anpassung an die eigenen Interessen und geht mit mehr Eigenverantwortung einher. Nach 10 Semestern Regelstudienzeit erhalten die Studierenden den Abschluss „Diplom-Ingenieur“, der äquivalent zum Masterabschluss ist.
