U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

It is a course of study that is unique in Germany and combines all important aspects of water. In addition to a solid and broad basic education in chemistry, the course also includes the basics of biology or microbiology, analytics, process and process engineering. It is therefore a very practice-oriented course of study which is also reflected in the fact that a not inconsiderable number of students successfully switch to work directly after completing their bachelor's degree. Building on the Bachelor's programme, the Master Water Science deepens all the essential aspects that are important.

Following the motto: get to know future practice now! The students are included in research at an early stage by the research-oriented work groups and gain, in addition to a good level of supervision and the very good quality of teaching, a closely practice-related and realistic impression of their later professional world. This can be attributed to the high level of commitment of the professors and academic staff.

Due to the small cohort of students, teaching is characterised by a very good supervision ratio. Students are continuously involved in the design of teaching and organisational matters as well as in module adjustments. An evaluation of the programme takes place every semester. In this way, we can ensure that the teaching takes into account the needs and expectations of the students. We have extensive technical equipment such as eye-tracking laboratories, devices for electrodermal measurements, ECG, heart rate variability, PC pools and computer laboratories.

In general, the research projects in our institute are characterised by the claim of linking basic principles and their applications. For example, state-funded projects investigate the development and effectiveness of interventions (e.g. empathy training) to improve the mental health of employees. Other research projects concern the implementation of evaluation systems, problem-solving skills, teaching research, (neuro-)biological determinants of stress and depression, self-perception, suicide, applied psychometrics and psycholinguistics.
