U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

Coverage of all sub-disciplines of physical geography, specialization in the core-elective program (Climate impact research, environmental information systems, environmental hydrology, soil science and biodiversity research). Extensive methodological training (GIS / (micro)remote sensing using UAVs, laboratory analysis, statistics, machine learning, big data). All seminars are conducted in manageable classes. The advanced modules take place in our own research and learning area 'Marburg Open Forest'.

The overarching goal of our work is the exploration of the "Human Dimension of Global Change". Main research areas are amongst others high mountain ecology, biodiversity research, desertification, spatio-temporal dynamics of cloud, nebulae and precipitation events, environmental modeling and datamanagement. In all fields a strong interdisciplinary approach is carried out. The heavily input of automated retrieved data leads to a sophisticated datamanagement and implementation of data analysis using machine learning algorithms. Research areas are regional as well as world-wide.

The program is characterized by its integrative orientation and methodological focus in the field of environmental geography. The profile of the program offers a modern technical-methodical education with cross-coordinated content, the possibility of up to three individual emphases or alternatively individual minor subjects to choose, as well as the opportunity to take a semester abroad without lengthening the study period. Small seminar and practice groups give time and space for learning and understanding. Advanced modules take place in the own investigation area 'Marburg Open Forest'.

The MSc EMEA is a unique programme, perhaps even worldwide, due to its focus on the economies of the Middle East. It rests on two pillars: on the one hand, by teaching modern economic theories and methods, on the other hand, by discussing special aspects of the MENA region. Participants must have an academic background in Economics, which is different to many interdisciplinary Master's programmes with a focus on the MENA region. One semester takes place at Lebanese American University in Beirut.
