Das Studium bietet einen hohen praktischen Anteil. Ab dem 1. Semester wird der Studierende in den klinischen Behandlungsalltag integriert und somit optimal auf den späteren Berufsalltag vorbereitet. Wir fordern und fördern die soziale Verantwortung durch zahlreiche soziale Projekte. Die Studierenden profitieren von einer ausgeprägten Persönlichkeitsbildung durch das Studium fundamentale. Das Studium wird integriert angeboten, im integrierten klinischen Kurs werden vom 7. bis 10. alle Fächer simultan unterrichtet. Die Studierenden werden in einem individuellen Auswahlverfahren ausgesucht.

Klinische Forschung: Studien zu Implantaten, Knochenregeneration, Prävention und restaurativer Zahnmedizin. Grundlagenforschung: Oberflächenveränderungen durch Erosion und Abrasion, Bestimmung von Entzündungsmediatoren, Speichelanalysen, De- und Remineralisation, Biomaterialprüfung. Das Department verfügt über eines von weltweit drei akkreditierten pH-Telemetrie-Zentren zur Bestimmung der Kariogenität von Lebensmitteln und Getränken.
