U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

There is a strong emphasis on education as a discipline and many modules are relevant to that discipline. Moreover, the curriculum is strongly interdisciplinary and various modules from humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics and computer science are taught. Nevertheless, the main focus is on the contribution of each science to education in general and in early education in particular. The department aims as its primary teaching outcome at the application of theoretical knowledge within the classroom. To a large extent, this is also achieved through the internship programme.
