Dental assisting students are trained using ten fully equipped dental units, proper amount of dental instruments and sterilization laboratory. Students are having professional traineeships in dental clinics every semester. The active study methods are used, such as situation analysis, role-playing and preparing educational material for the patients. Communication and inter-professional collaboration competences and team working skills are being developed by assisting dental hygiene students during traineeships. Critical thinking competence is developed by self-reflexing method and discussions.

Scientific research is being performed in the area of development of a science-based patients’ counselling competence of future dental hygienists.
