However, political and military history is the main research field of the Department. During the last several decades Professors had published works devoted to the international relations of Latvia in 20th century, processes during the World War II , including holocaust in Latvia. New directions are history of World War I and Soviet regime in Latvia. Last, but not least the Department is leading centre of history of Latvia.
