U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

The Biology bachelor program provides a basic formation in the field of biological sciences, by studying living organisms in all their structural and functional complexity. In addition to practical field applications, where students will learn to identify plants and animals and collect information about them, specialized laboratories provide an optimal framework for knowledge of techniques and laboratory equipment in fields such as cytology, histology, biochemistry, microbiology, or genetics. Complementary subjects will provide an interdisciplinary approach for the entire program.

From the first years of studies, students are involved in research and can participate in national and international conferences. Students with great potential for research are co-opted into the Center for Research in Informatics and Information Technology. Every year we organize the International Conference on Applied Informatics, which aims to promote the results of scientific research conducted mainly by young people (undergraduate, master's, doctoral, young researchers). Every two years, the international conference “Modeling and Development of Intelligent Systems” is organized.

This programme have the longest tradition among the whole spectrum of programmes sustined by the Lucian Blaga of Sibiu. We have a very good collaboration with two main Romanian museums: Brukenthal National Museum and ASTRA National Museum Complex, who provaide a good enviroment for practical activities. Also, we developed a extensiv sistem of archaeological diggings, in which our students can part of important research activities. The students of this program can become member of the researching grants obtained by professors and can complete their formation in our doctoral school.

We started this programme a few years ago in the connection with one of the european priorities: heritage protection. Our programme is based on the various heritage that the city of Sibiu detains, being the first BA in Romania with this specific. The strong need for specialists in this domain is obvious in Romania but also in Europe. In the city and university our students can find the best specialists from Romania and a very complex environment created by the historical monuments and large museum collections. The programme includes many directions of development and research.

This department adopted a student-oriented approach, combined with a curricula-oriented approach. The student/teaching staff ratio is around 10, which enables working in small groups and a more applied approach in class.
