U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

All Informatics degree programmes focus on Applied Informatics. Hence, most lectures are complemented by practical courses (at most 30 participants) in order to provide hands-on-experience. The programmes aim to provide the students with problem-solving competences and knowledge of the fundamental methodologies, so that they can easily adjust to technological paradigm shifts. Additionally, there is a close connection to the research activities (research-driven teaching) where each Master specialisation is supported by at least two internationally reputed research groups.

The programme conveys a solid scientific foundation comprised of pedagogical theories as well as methods of action and of research in the field of School Education. The particular profile refers, on the one hand, to the analysis and design of pedagogical processes under the conditions of diversity, heterogeneity, and social inequality. On the other hand, the programme endeavours to expand social and personal development skills (the ability to deal with conflict, social responsibility, self-reflection) and to reinforce the readiness to engage in pedagogical action.

The programme builds upon basic competences in Educational Sciences. It equips students with the academic and practice-oriented skills necessary for analysing and designing learning in the fields of adult/continuing and vocational education. It aims to enable students to become reflective and active practitioners, while consolidating, fostering and broadening their scientific capabilities. It is based on current thinking in adult/continuing and vocational education research, as well as on established and relevant knowledge in these areas.

The programme builds upon basic competences in Educational Sciences. The programme allows to specialize in the field of Social Pedagogy and Inclusive Education. On the one hand, this involves exploring selected questions, theories and research methods in the Educational Sciences. Students gain an understanding of the significance of cultural, social and gender-specific differences. On the other hand, students acquire knowledge and skills in the field of Social Pedagogy and Inclusive Education with practical relevance for their professional and research activities.

Basic knowledge of the four epochs ancient history, medieval history, modern history and contemporary history. There are also special foci: Interdisciplinary History, international History (Eastern Europe, North Africa, Asia Minor), regional History (history of the alps-adriatic region and Austrian history). Excursions are often carried out, to learn on site. There is also a cooperation with the Friesach castle construction and educational excavations are carried out on Magdalensberg. Students also have the possibility to make a practicum (archive, museum etc.) within the study programme.

We teach students the theoretical principles of Mathematics, as well as practice-oriented and practical methods. To supplement the compulsory subjects, students can select specialised subjects from one focus area. Special emphasis is placed on the development of mathematical models and appropriate solution methods. One of the crucial elements of the practical orientation of our master program is a compulsory internship lasting several weeks. Furthermore, students can acquire an additional application-oriented and interdisciplinary qualification by taking extension subjects.

Technical Mathematics teaches students the theoretical principles of Mathematics, as well as practice-oriented and practical methods. Special emphasis is placed on the development of mathematical models and appropriate solution methods. To supplement the compulsory subjects, students can select between specialised subjects from the focus areas of Applied Analysis, Applied Statistics, and Discrete Mathematics. This is further expanded to include knowledge of programming, mathematical and statistical software, as well as the choice of one extension subjects.

The Master’s degree programme in Mathematics teaches students advanced and in-depth knowledge and skills in the field of (Applied) Mathematics and Statistics. Specialisations are possible in the following focus areas: Applied Analysis, Applied Statistics, Discrete Mathematics. The in-depth specialisation is based on a prior common mathematical foundation across all three areas. One of the crucial elements of the practical orientation is a compulsory internship lasting several weeks, which is designed to test and apply acquired knowledge in industry or academia.

Our department has a somewhat more favorable teacher-student ratio than other Austrian psychology departments. This manifests itself in a focus on research- and practice-oriented teaching and learning. Courses in research methodology and statistics as well as in applied fields such as clinical psychology or psychological assessment emphasize not only knowledge acquisition, but also hands-on skills training. Our goal is to provide our students with in-depth knowledge, but also with the skills required to apply this knowledge in practical work and critical (self-)reflection.
Profile in research
Our main fields of research are in clinical psychology and psychotherapy, with a focus on psychoanalytic and psychodynamic conceptions, life-span developmental psychology, social psychology, and health psychology. We use a broad spectrum of qualitative...
