U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

The BSc and MSc education programs of the Faculty of Civil Engineering covers broad area of civil engineering as the available specializations show. On BSc level the focus is on practical knowledge and skills, the program involves field courses as well (e.g. 9-day surveying field course is mandatory for all BSc students). There’s strong cooperation with industrial partners, besides receiving students for summer internships, many companies are involved in the education, e.g. co-supervising thesis projects, giving lectures, delegating member to the final exam committees.

The mathematics programmes offered by the Faculty of Natural Sciences provide complex mathematical knowledge and strong problem-solving skills. These are necessary for a successful career in research but can also be efficiently applied in many other areas, where modelling complex systems and solving difficult problems is required. Due to the flexible structure of the training, students can decide during their studies whether they focus on the fundamental aspects of mathematics, or they engage with more applied subjects related to stochastics, finance, optimisation, data science or engineering.

Due to outstanding efforts of the five departments of the Institute of Mathematics, our institute has become an internationally recognised research centre in applied and pure mathematics. Our research scope covers a wide range of modern and classical mathematics, including algebra, number theory, analysis, geometry, data science, optimization, quantum information theory, mathematical modelling, numerical analysis, PDE's, theory of algorithms, cryptography, linguistics, probability theory and statistics. We have particularly strong research groups in quantum information theory and stochastics.

After obtaining strong bases in pure and applied mathematics , from the fifth semester specialised courses can be chosen from various fields of theoretical and applied mathematics like algebra, analysis, geometry, data science, optimisation, stochastics, engineering mathematics. Special characteristics of our six semester BSc in Mathematics program are the tutorial system, a large number of homeworks, opportunities to take part in high-level scientific research and to gain insight into various fields of applications and mathematical modelling of real life problems.
