U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

Our institute has BSc programs in Biology, Biochemical Engineering, and Environmental Science. In these programmes, the students have opportunities to study the scientific basis of biology, chemistry , operation of bioreactors or monitoring of environment. To deepen their knowledge, they have practical courses and field practises, where they can study how to apply basic techniques. Teaching in Biology has a strong flavour of organismal biology. A rather large part of the curriculum concentrate on biological processes at the level of individual and above.

Students of the BSc program study the scientific basics of biology. They get a comprehensive introduction to the living systems, including e.g. the cell structure and function, genetic mechanisms, physiology, ecological and evolutionary processes. Thus, they have opportunity to enter the different MSc programs from Hydrobiology MSc to Molecular biology MSc. Besides, our students can study bioinformatics, which is an interdisciplinary subject. To deepen their knowledge, they have also a compulsory field practise and can participate in 6 weeks long internship.

The hydrobiology is an extremely increasingly complex challenge and it has policy priority facing global society. Unprecedented climate, economic, technological and demographic change require a new generation of dedicated professionals who are committed to and trained in the interdisciplinary nature of water science and management. Our MSc course develops knowledge and understanding in physical, chemical, and ecological aspects of water science in temperate, tropical and semi-arid zones.

The Biology Master programme concentrates on current state of biological scientific research. Our aim is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to become a highly qualified researcher in several fields of biology. We offer the following specialisations: genetics, plant biology, ecology and zoology. We put great emphasis to enhance our students' ability for critical thinking and curiosity. Students must carry out a self-managed research project to obtain a degree. Many of our student finish their education by writing a scientific publication.
