U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

Research is a fundamental part of the activities of the Faculty of Biology. Due to the widespread recognition of their excellence, our research groups receive financial backing from regional, national and international sources. The results for all the different fields are published in high impact journals. The same results permit the transfer of technology to the productive sector, contributing to improving both business and university competitiveness. Another important aspect in this field is the transfer of knowledge through the local and national press, courses and workshops.

Forensic Science is a fascinating field of study, complex and multidisciplinary. Scientific principles (chemical, physical, biological) as well as social and legal sciences fare used to throw light on what otherwise may be difficult cases to resolve. The complexity of forensic evidence and its legal validation emphasise the multidisciplinary nature. The scope of Forensic Science runs from evaluation of the postmortem interval, the study of sarcosaprophagous fauna, pollen or psychological reports to the most advanced technologies of voice identification and analytical techniques.

The study of biotechnological processes is approached from a multidisciplinary perspective, considering both scientific and technological aspects. Classical areas of knowledge of Biology such as Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Genetics and Microbiology co-participate in this degree with other areas such as Engineering, Chemistry, or Biostatistics. The practical work covers the multiple areas involved and is expanded with internships in companies and with the development of a final degree project at the student's choice with a high rate of experimentation.

The Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Murcia has a larger number of modern facilities. This is due to the high cost involving the good training of professionals devoted to the fields of Veterinary Science, Food Science & Technology and also to the different postgraduate Master degrees offered by our Faculty. The Evaluation of this Faculty by the EAEVE has also helped improve these facilities in the last years. The main aim of our Facilities such as the Teaching Hospital, Teaching Farm and Food Technology Pilot Plan is to ensure an excellent training for all our students.
