U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

After obtaining a solid background in natural and engineering sciences, the curriculum covers technical aspects (production technology from single manufacturing cells to entire plants, automation with hands-on courses, information technology like CAD systems, FEM simulation systems, image processing, control software) and economic topics (e.g. business administration including management methods, various cost estimation methods and cost control). In order to develop the soft skills required in today’s work environments, diverse projects have to be completed in team work.

In the first three semesters, first basic math skills are taught in compulsory modules in analysis and linear algebra. A phase in the mid-third study period follows, in which students can choose from advanced courses that build directly on the previously acquired mathematical fundamentals. Different lectures in the fields of algebra, geometry and topology, higher analysis, numeric, stochastics and optimalization are provided. The last semesters allow further specialization in one of these areas.

The master programme is consecutive to the Bachelor of Business Mathematics and is designed to enable a seamless transition. During the master programme, students choose lectures in the field of applied mathematics, computer science and economics. In contrast to the bachelor programme, which has to ensure that students are trained comprehensively, many choices are offered in the master programme. The degree holder has professional skills in business mathematics and is qualified for corresponding professions in business, industry, or science.

Teaching is our core competence. Methodically supported by an entire team, teaching methods are cons tantly being expanded and improved. Project-based courses, case studies, and simulations are frequen tly employed to ensure that acquired knowledge is successfully applied. For the same reason, interns hips in all subject areas form an essential part of the curriculum. To ensure the quality of teachin g, students evaluate it regularly.

A particular strength of our faculty is that colleagues of different orientations cooperate in numerous interdisciplinary research activities. There, students from different disciplines can gain experience in current topics at an early stage, expanding on subjects taught through active participation in applied research. As the range of external research partners comprises everything from DAX corporations to start-up companies as well as research institutes, students can establish valuable contacts at an early stage according to their personal preferences.
