U-Multirank's unique 'Sunburst chart' gives an illustration of a university's performance profile across the five U-Multirank dimensions. These are indicated in different colours. For instance, the teaching and learning dimension is symbolised by the colour green. Each 'sunray' represents one of the thirty plus U-Multirank indicators. The longer the ray, the better the performance of an institution on the selected indicator: a full-length ray stands for 'top group' performance, whereas a short ray means 'weak' performance. A missing sunray indicates that the specific data indicator is not available. An institution's performance in an indicator can be identified by moving the cursor over the rays. A key guard for the sunburst chart is provided here .

The Bachelor's degree course in Chemistry combines basic theory with modern practice and prepares students for the research-oriented and English-language Master's programme in Chemistry. A major strength of the department is the excellent supervision of students due to the comparatively small ratio of students to professors in chemistry. In addition to the usual student counseling, confidential counseling is offered by liaison officers, which mediate confidentially in situations of conflict and support the students.

The working groups in the department are involved in national and international research projects. Working groups in the Cµ research centre at the University of Siegen are also collaborating: The Cµ investigates how chemical processes occur on microscopic and nanoscopic length scales and at interfaces. Likewise, novel materials, methods and systems for micro- and nanochemistry are developed and this knowledge is used to design novel sensory interfaces and to develop new diagnostic approaches, e.g. for the detection of bacterial and fungal contaminations.

The MEPS program endows its participants with the economic competence and analytical skills for a successful career in administration, government, national and international associations, and global business. To achieve this goal the MEPS program not only offers a profound training in economic theory and econometric techniques but also enables its students to independently analyze questions of practical and political relevance empirically. The masters program has a strong international focus.

At the beginning of the studies there is a first semester introduction by the student council. The department offers excellent support and informal personal contact with lecturers early in the studies. Students are individually advised and enrolled in a mentoring program. During the bachelor's thesis, students learn about current research directly in a research group. In addition, there are excursions lasting several days and sponsored by the department to major research facilities, e.g. to CERN (Geneva) or Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.

With about 400 students and 16 lecturers, physics in Siegen is a department of short distances with close contact between students and lecturers. This results in excellent supervision, and together with students and the student council, the lecturers develop the range of lectures for the coming semesters. During the master thesis, the direct involvement in the working groups regularly leads to the publication of the achieved research results in international journals.

Examination regulations (POs) specify the basic structures of a degree program (e.g. admission requirements and contents to be studied). Students are automatically subject to the current version of their PO when they matriculate for their first subject-related semester. This means that even if the PO changes during their studies, the original version according to which they matriculated will remain valid (provided that the PO does not expire).

Social work is a mutual interaction process between the client and social worker. It is, among others, about supporting those looking for help in overcoming their difficulties so that they can solve their problems as independently as possible. Social workers deal with a broad range of subjects, such as social problems, injustice, barriers or discrimination, in theory and practice. The bachelor's degree program Social Work offers a broad scientific basis as well as proximity to the professional practice and mediation of specifically usable methodical knowledge and skills.
